Florence Airport Tram Guide: Line T2 Timetable, Tickets & Stops

If you want to avoid an expensive taxi ride and prefer a comfortable, budget-friendly way to reach the city centre and your hotel, the Florence Tramway is your best option. The T2 Line connects Florence Airport (Peretola / Amerigo Vespucci) directly to the heart of the historic center.

๐Ÿ“ Where is the Tram Stop at Florence Airport?

Finding the tram is incredibly easy. As soon as you walk out of the arrivals terminal, just look to your left. The T2 Airport Terminal (Capolinea) is located only a few meters away. You can’t miss it—just follow the signs or the blue line on the ground.

⏱️ Key Information: Frequency & Travel Time

  • Travel time: It takes about 20 minutes to reach the main train station (Santa Maria Novella) and around 28 minutes to reach the final stop in San Marco.
  • Frequency: Trams run constantly. You will find a tram every 4–5 minutes during peak hours, so you never have to wait long.
  • Service hours: The tram service starts early in the morning (around 05:00 AM) and runs until midnight (00:30 AM). On Friday and Saturday nights, the service is extended until 02:00 AM.

๐ŸŽซ Tickets: Price and How to Buy Them

A single tram ticket costs €1.70 and is valid for 90 minutes across the entire network.

  • Where to buy: You can buy your ticket at the automatic vending machines located right at the airport tram stop (they accept both cash and credit/debit cards).
  • Contactless payment (Tap & Go): You can pay directly on board by tapping your contactless credit card, debit card, or smartphone on the green validators.
  • ⚠️ Crucial Rule for Families & Groups: The contactless system operates on a "one card per passenger" basis. You cannot use the same credit card or phone to pay for multiple people. Every traveler must tap their own individual card or device. If you are traveling as a family, it is highly recommended to buy standard paper tickets at the vending machine instead.
  • ⚠️ Stamping Paper Tickets: If you buy a paper ticket, you must validate (stamp) it as soon as you step inside the tram. Failing to do so can result in a heavy fine!
